Modern Warfare 4 No Recoil: How Recoil Control Settings Work
A plain explanation of no recoil, no sway and weapon specific recoil profiles for Modern Warfare 4.
Recoil is one of the first things that separates a comfortable weapon from a frustrating one. In Modern Warfare 4, sustained fire pulls your sights up and sideways, and every weapon does it a little differently. No recoil features exist to reduce that movement.
What no recoil does
A no recoil feature reduces supported weapon movement while you fire. Rather than a single on or off switch, good implementations break it down:
- Recoil percentage: how much of the movement is reduced
- Vertical control: reduces upward climb
- Horizontal control: reduces side to side drift
- No sway: reduces idle weapon movement
- Spread control: manages spread behaviour where supported

Why weapon profiles matter
Weapons behave very differently. A high rate of fire SMG, a rifle and a light machine gun do not share the same pattern, and a setting that feels right on one can feel wrong on another. Saving separate values per weapon class is more useful than one universal number. A hotkey to switch profiles makes this practical during a session.
Less than 100 percent can be better
Fully removing recoil is not always what players want. A partial reduction keeps some natural weapon movement while taking the edge off the hardest patterns. If you prefer manual control, start with a moderate percentage and adjust in small steps.
Combining with aim settings
Recoil control and aim assistance work best when they are tuned together. If your aim settings already pull toward targets, heavy recoil reduction on top can feel stiff. Our aimbot settings guide covers FOV and smoothing so you can balance both.
Where it helps most
Sustained automatic fire is where recoil control matters. Examples include medium range fights with automatic rifles, controlling fast SMGs, and keeping LMG fire steady. In DMZ, steadier fire can help in unplanned fights with squads or AI.
